DAY posted by Phyllis Day Flinn on Sunday, July 4, 1999

I am looking for any information on the John Day family who may have lived in Breckenridge or the surrounding area about 1874, when their son Elmer was born. Elmer was my grandfather. John Day was a captain in the Civil War (I think for the North). Other children included Ida, Auther, and Bird. My father, Clarence Day (1900-1982) told me that as a child, his father took him to visit his grandfather in an "old soldier's home" in Missouri - in the early 1900's. Is there any information about such a place in the area?

CORNETT, MAYFIELD posted by Darlene Ealy on Wednesday, July 14, 1999

I just found in your marriage records the marriage between Chandler MAYFIELD and Nancy CORNETT. You don't know how long I have searched for this marriage record. They were married 04/19/1864. My query is were they still living in Daviess Co. in the 1870 census or if there is any other record of children born to this marriage in Daviess Co. Missouri. Also record of Chandler Mayfield's parents or his death. It is very possible that Nancy was a widow by 1870. Thank you in advance for you time.

BREEDEN posted by Suzan Paschen on Wednesday, August 25, 1999

I am trying to locate parents for my GGM Martha Elizabeth Breeden b.March 1867, MO. She married John William Roberts about 1887. I located them on the 1990 Census in Daviess Co. East 1/2 of Marion TWP. I have checked the index for 1860 and 1850 MO Census and find a few Breeden's in the county. I believe John & Martha may have started out more to the north and/or east of Gallatin. They have a 5 yr old daughter buried at Kerton Cemetery, and I think their farm was in the Civil Bend area. Seems quite a distance to me.
